Norwalk Cultural Survey
The Hour posted a story on the Norwalk Arts Commission’s cultural survey. I get quoted a bit on the purpose etc. which I’ll recap here:
“The purpose was to get a handle on what the role of the arts commission should be, as it relates to the arts organizations and arts community in Greater Norwalk. We want to establish a cultural district that would be the umbrella organization that would promote arts and activities, such as pARTy in the Park and Sounds of SoNo,” said Jackie Lightfield, arts commission chairwoman. “And in order to create those (activities) on an ongoing basis, as opposed to the ad-hoc basis that we’re currently doing, we need to establish whether there is public support, business and political support.”
The survey can be found at http://1215654610.Norwalk.sgizmo.com. Among the 16 questions in the survey: What is your age? Have you attended Cultural Events or Attractions in the Greater Norwalk Area? A follow-up question asks if you’ve been to, among other places, Crystal Theater, Concerts on the Beach, The Norwalk Museum or The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk?
Still another question asks if you have children and, if so, the age of your children.
“The questions establish your baseline demographics info,” Lightfield said. For example “how many men come to Norwalk, how many women come, what do they come to see, do they dine after events, do they have children, what their age group is.”
We’re still collecting data, and welcome all comments.
