Wow, this was really cool. Praise to everyone involved, and the organizers and supporters.

And the Hour, typically, was way off on attendance in their article today. At least 800 people were there yesterday during the battle, not 100. Who does their body counts? Last week, there was standing room only, about 150, at the town house on Mill Hill for the 4th of July event, and the Hour said 50. Are the editors intentionally under-estimating the popularity of historical events, to fit in with some weird agenda? A 10 year old can count people…

Again, despite the Hour, the event was a major success and another example of the popularity of our rich local history.

#1, you are so right. The spirit of local patriotism was in the air and media publicity really didn’t matter after all was said and done. Look at the number of attendees as well as the posts and contributions to this site regarding this 230th anniversary commemoration! The pictures are remarkable.

As we honor local patriotism, let us also remember the spirit that made the country united. There are plenty of Americans still on the frontlines today.

  • Fantastic!

What a wonderful event this was! I brought my niece and nephew on Saturday, and my grandchildren on Sunday. The organizers of this event should be praised to the hills. In speaking with event staff, I discovered that this entire event was coordinated with the help of only four people! What a magnificent job they did. Norwalk should be proud of Celebrate the Past Inc., it is a terrific organization. I understand they do this reenactment every 5 years. I’m already looking forward to 2014.
