Not sure about the newer models but I still drive my 1990 Turbo wagon with 173K miles and she purrs like a kitten. A few minor repairs now and then..which can be pricey but I know that if there’s a snow storm, Bessie is gonna get me where I want to go…and when traveling on I-95 I almost want to dare someone to hit me, I think this car is made out of warship materials!

I’m #3 and I’m glad the rest of you have Volvo sedans and wagons. The sales and service people at Volvo of Westport have admitted to me that the convertibles are frauds – they’re dressed up ( and priced up) Ford Tauruses. I used to HOPE I’d get in an accident and total the damn thing without hurting myself! Finally I just couldn’t take it any more – and for me to give up driving a convertible – you don’t even know!
The service people also admitted that, whiel the GOOD ones are great, there are a LOT of problems and if you’ve got a lemon, forget it! And they ain’t cheap to fix once the warranty runs out. I was MUCH happier with my Saab.
But what does all this have to do with the price of tea in China anyway?

Glad you’re OK TG. Sorry your Volvo isn’t, but we’d all rather have it that way in our not-so-perfect world.

Volvo has been bragging about safety engineered into their cars for years, with some justification. Ask any body repair man. they will all agree that your chances of surviving an accident are better in a volvo. They were spending money designing energy absorbing crash zones surrounding a rigid passenger cage a long time ago, much like the way race cars are built.
Good to hear you weren’t seriously hurt, TG. I hope the guy responsible has good insurance.

Glad your Volvo is better built than mine was. Of course mine was a convertible and the Volvo people themselves admit they’re crap. If I’d been hit by a truck, assuming I’d survived, I’d have had a nice retirement courtesy of the trucker. SO relieved to be driving a Japanese dream car now.
