What should have been a nice day finishing up pARTy in the Park details, turned out to be one where we started constructing an ark. Or rather, plan B. So while it would have been fun to track what was going on in BOE land tonight, we’ve been working out rain related details for pARTy in the Park. According to the weather forecasts, we might get some rain. That’s about as good as the forecasts are. Whatever happened to those five day forecasts that used to be fairly accurate. The highlight today was reading about today’s weather (3/5 services said lightly raining with mist) and watching hours of deluge style rain pelt Norwalk.
So if they say lightly raining do they mean, non stop rain? If they say chance of thunderstorms do they mean, partly sunny?
I think I just saw the SS Minnow float by the window.

the show must go on after all your hard work–we can find someplace to take it or part of it in–i have been doing my sun dance–will continue it .
good luck!!!!!
Yeah, I got a kick out of those “light rain” announcements – especially when I came home and my roof was leaking where the one-story addition attached to my house!
But let’s keep doing the sun dance – this sounds like great fun and an especially great new idea since the Oyster Festival has gotten more than a little lame.
Good luck with your event. I hope the rain stays far far away
Just change it to a clothing optional party. Then nobody will care bout the rain.
First of all the weather has been terrible. I can’t remember getting this much rain in June. My take on the weather is that today and tomorrow morning should be rain free and cloudy. Then rain in the afternoon into the evening.
I hope that despite the rain that you have a lot of success with this. I hope this can become an annual event. Having a pedestrian friendly event in that area sounds cool.
Best of Luck.
What, has everyone forgotten about the Splash! Festival already?? The lack of a Splash! Festival is not a done deal; it’s only on hiatus until the South Norwalk merchants get their act together and form a Business District.
Rain will not keep us from forging ahead. Way too much effort and energy has been put into this. We will go with plan A, B, C or whatever, but the show must go on.
It may be scaled back or not totally as planned, but…..
We are all still doing the NO rain dance or should I say the LITTLE rain dance.
Here’s hoping it doesn’t BECOME the “splash” festival. Where are those duck boat tours when you need them?
Great day for pARTy in the Park. Rain holding off until later tonight.
Looks like the major rain will hold off till later tonight (fingers crossed)! I will be there!
Happy Family will be there! Brace yourself Norwalk ’cause we’re ready for a pARTy in the Park!
I just came back…very well done. I hope you have better weather next year!
The event was a huge success, and will be even better next year even if it rains again!
There were at least 3000 people there, maybe more since it was so spread out. The Oyster Shell path was packed with people at 2 pm, all heading up to the park even in the rain. Now that speaks well for the future of this new event.
Sono restaurants were busy all day and night, and thats good news for them in this economy.
Great job combining history, museums, art, music, and fun. Can’t wait till next year! Bravo everyone!
I second 13′s comments. Great job showing what Norwalk has to offer. Can’t have been easy pulling all that together but the work really paid off. Kudos to all y’all!!
Excellent is all I have to say. I had planned on going to several events on Saturday but actually spent from 11 to 5 at the pARTY in the park. There was so much to see and way too much food to sample. The Cemetery was amazing. Hopefully they will be able to raise the funds to restore the headstones. Its such a shame that they have either fallen from age or vandalizm because they are such a vital part of Norwalk history. I heard some kids talking about how old some of them were..they were saying things like wow look at that one they were born in the 1800′s and look, they died in the early 1900′s ..wow that was a long time ago. the kids and adults alike really enjoyed the history lessons they learned from the re-enacters that were place strategically around as well. Great job to all.
It was a great event and we would have stayed much longer and experienced much more were it not for the rain. Anyone know if Saturday, or some part of Saturday, set a record for the Maritime Garage?
Andrea, not a record, but demand was higher compared to the last few weekends.
