Unions Agree To Furlough
The Norwalk Municipal Employees Association finally voted, on try number 4, to accept some sort of concession that would enable the City of Norwalk to save 5 jobs scheduled for termination July 1. The Common Council will have to act on the proposal that essentially says every NMEA employee will be furloughed for two days. Meanwhile residents are grumbling about yard waste pickup and the corollary no Saturday operation of the Smith St. yard waste drop off.
The City blames unions for not adopting flex schedules. The Unions blame the City. We the residents can call the customer service line at 203 854-3200. Finding the customer service number on the City Web Site is always a treat. It’s like a scavenger hunt.
