Governor Fitch Park? Can anyone please identify this park? I never heard of it.

Right in between Ludlow Manor and the Historical Cemetery in East Norwalk as you come from Gregory BLVD

  • Diane C:

Deja Vu? Didn’t I see them last year? LOL LOL!

I’m curious to know what a 1950s doo-wop singing group has to do with Christmas or tree lightings.

  • anon

They sing Christmas Carols, believe it or not we had Christmas in the 50′s too! They are very good and the crowd sings along with them

  • Diane C:me me me meeeee!

Ooops, forgot my singing is outlawed at all tree lightings, and everywhere else for that matter – guess I will lip sync along to Rudolph or something (really, my singing is THAT bad!).
Anyway, hope everyone from North, East, South and West Norwalk will come over to East Norwalk for our tree lighting, and bring a canned or boxed food good for the local pantry if you are able! (East Norwalk center at Fitch Park (Rogers Square & East Norwalk Cemetary 6pm)

Used to be, this tree lighting had school groups and Girl Scouts leading the singing. Whatever happened to community participation? The members of Deja Vu don’t even LIVE in Norwalk!

  • Diane C: Marvin School there

The Marvin School chorus entertained us with several songs, and they were wonderful! Very, very talented youngsters with big smiles and angelic voices. It was treat to see them and I applaud them for giving up a Sunday “school night” to come and sing for the crowd.
I think Mr. Muro of Deja Vu lives in Norwalk, but even if they don’t, they can always be counted on at so many Norwalk events that they feel like nice neighbors to me!

Anthony owns SIGNS BY ANTHONY and Mr. Muro owns NEW YORK BAKERY..both hail from Norwalk. Good to see Terry Rooney come to join the festivities as well as many other familiar faces

The festivities, music, etc. were wonderful. A large crowd turned out and it was a real community event. The live Nativity and real animals at Christ Church, adjacent to the park, also added to the festive occasion. A very enjoyable evening.

  • Great Evening big crowd

My whole family showed up as usual. This year seemed much more festive and the attendance was as big or bigger than I can ever remember. The coffee and hot chocolate and assortment of cookies put out by not only the volunteers who served them, but also Christ Church, whose “Live Nativity” scene was not only a big attraction and drew a large crowd. The kids loved to pet the animals, and actually see the crèche and understand the true meaning of Christmas. It was great to see Diane C., Mayor Moccia, Bob Duff and a lot of other friends there.

    “Merry Christmas”

    Art S.

  • Diane C: thanks in order

Thanks to TTD (David, Tim, Paul, Ron, Anna, et al)all the volunteers, thanks for the cookies (David Brown’s were wicked good!) and hot cocoa, and Licari florists for our free roses (beautiful!), Marvin School chorus, Deja Vu, East Norwalk Fire House and Santa Claus (Dear Santa, I can explain), Mayor Moccia -Sen. Duff -Rep.Perone for keeping your speeches short & sweet, TTD group who strung the lights! I’m probably missing a few names, so thanks to everyone for a wonderful neighborhood evening. It was great to see you, too, Art and lots of folks I haven’t seen in a bit.
    Merry Christmas to all!

As always the 3rd taxing District put on a great event. No small kids of my own but I always enjoy going each year to watch the little ones as santa steps out of the fire truck. Everyone gets into the caroling, young and old alike, there’s lots of hot chocolate, coffee and goodies to go around for everyone served up by Ana Aguilar of the 3rd and Win Baum of the East Norwalk Business Assoc. Other than the greetings by the Mayor, Bob Duff, Chris Perone, Tim Plunket, Paul Kokias and Dave Brown with introductions of local officials who attended, there was no politics just everyone coming together for a great time. Wish my grandkids still lived in Norwalk. After that most headed over to the live nativity which was a huge success to adults and children alike. Thanks to all who attended to make this year a festive occasion for all. a really nice touch was newly opened Licari Florists in the Ludlow shopping center handed out single long stem roses with a certificate for a 10% discount to just about every adult present. Great touch!

Merry Christmas and a Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year to all. Take some time to thank our service men and women who won’t have the comforts of home this holiday season.

Sorry I missed this one, but I had the Yale Alley Cats caroling in SoNo that night. Hope you all had fun and sounds like a great turnout. But.

Does Norwalk really need a gajillion tree lightings? Can’t we all just have one? Food for thought.

  • Diane C: care to make a wager?

One city tree lighting? NO WAY. ‘Cause East Norwalk Third Taxing District rocks and our district commish can beat yours! I say we start a little friendly competition for best tree lighting! Prizes for best tree, best musical caroling, best hot chocolate and cookies, and best Santa!
Hmmmmm, now we need some judges……..

One giant tree lighting on the Green would do it for me. All these tree lightings are ridiculous and a big waste of time, manpower, and money.

  • Double D

True, plus they create an already existent tendency to not make the city feel like one entity. One nice lighting ceremony of an official city tree would be a city-wide event that could make everyone feel included. The Green is the obvious choice given that pathetic little thing in front of city hall. Doesn’t mean neighborhoods and taxing districts couldn’t do what they wanted – but one official city tree would be nice.

  • Anonymous How about

A nice Atheist anti religion sign next to each Christmas tree and Hanukkah Menorah in the city.

Bet you would be all for that…….

Correct me if I am wrong.

  • Vixen

I would be. Equality for ALL, not just SOME. Even you athiests and agnostics.
