    thanks for making a difference.

  • Diane C: help if you can

We desperately need volunteers who can deliver their own plastic bins or our Nnorwalk blue recycling bins to their neighborhood polling site. I can provide signage via email to tape to each bin. We are still waiting for word from food bank on pick up logistics, and Mr. David Shockley from city hall is helping us too. I’m sorry this stuff is so sketchy, but will try to tie up the gazillion loose ends today, thru the weekend, and on Monday. Hopefully this is the first annual election day food drive, and we will be much more organized next year. For now, let’s get out the word to bring non-perishable food to the polls with you. I think the pantries need food desperately right now, and even more so over the long, cold season ahead. Thanks everybody – let’s show everyone what a caring and giving city we are, and that we can mobilize to help when help is needed most.

I hope many will donate to this worthy cause. Thanks Diane for getting this up and running. I think with more timing and planning next year can really be a huge success. Volunteers will definately make this a success. This year we are supposed to have the biggest turnout of voters and if each person just brings one item we definately will be able to fill a few shelves at the food bank. Hopefully some of you will be able to donate some of your time to help out with this. Unfortunately due to a death in my immediate family I will most likey be out of town on election day and would greatly appreciate any help you can give Diane.

Great Idea! Lots of people will be out at the polls and can surely donate at least 1 canned or packaged product!

Pay it forward! Please remember to bring at least 1 item to the polling places for the food bank. I just spoke to the the food bank and they tell me the amount of food distributed this past month was more like what they do during Thanksgiving and Christmas and they are really in need of most all non perishable food stuffs. There is a list above in Turfs commentary. At this point we will take as much as you can afford to donate. Thanks in advance!
