I was getting tired of the Jim Himes and Chris Shays mailers. And what can I say about the Steve “Jodi Rell is my friend” mailers? Could Jodi Rell identify Papadakos if he walked into the Governor’s office? But at least Papadakos manages to send out the one a day mailer. Bruce Morris, running unopposed for the state rep seat he currently holds, sent 3 mailers in one day! Hey, maybe he’s subliminally saying how he does his job. Aren’t you glad that public financing of campaigns enabled this to happen?
First the positive. The graphic design, typogaphy etc. is well done. Take note Chris Shays. The message on the other hand …
Bruce Morris, Real Results. He Fights for us. He must be reading the Papadakos lit and plagiarized got inspired. So what has Morris fought for? There are four items in bullets. Tax Reform and Relief! Really!? Morris wants you to know he voted on a bill to lower town health care costs, which he claims will lower property taxes. He also claims to have cut a scheduled state gas tax increase. For the Health Care bullet, Morris voted to allow small businesses to have access to higher quality coverage at lower costs. And then there’s this mind boggling statement. Morris is claiming that he dramatically increased state funding for education. Emphasis mine. Did Morris actually intone, as he spoke in chambers, To fund, or not to fund, that is the question. Whether Tis Nobler of the mind… right before he voted? Well maybe Morris did, er dramatically increase state funding for education, but not for Norwalk. So if you want to continue to fund Meriden and New Haven, Morris is your guy.
For the rest of us though, it’s time to address the lame-itude attitude of the Norwalk Republican party and Norwalk Democrats in general who collectively brought us this mess. First, the Republicans should have run someone against Morris. Two, the Democrats should have gotten someone to primary Morris. Note that I didn’t knock the Norwalk Democratic party, they actually think Morris is just a “wonderful” politician. It’s the rest of the Norwalk Democrats who abdicate their responsibility for fielding quality candidates. Look around South Norwalk and ask yourself why there’s not state money coming in to address some of the more problematic issues?
We the people deserve better representation. Because Morris wants you to know, he gives public service a good name. In addition to letting you know that he voted to cut each household’s property taxes by $1000 a year. Er, doesn’t each municipality set those mill rates and subjects it’s residents to property taxes? So how does a state rep claim that he cut municipal taxes. Hey, maybe this is his nascent mayoral campaign. He already voted on it! Scary how we can read into these things isn’t it? Hey, it’s halloween today.
The fact that this race is uncontested just sucks. But I have a plan.
Write in a candidate of your choosing. Yep, I think it probably breaks the rules of who is eligible to be elected, but that’s not the point. Let’s throw a little anarchy into the vote count and write in a deserving individual, like the name on the mailbox next to yours, as your pick for the 140th. That’s mostly South Norwalk for those of you not into the gerrymander lines of assembly districts.
If you care about Norwalk, a write in candidate is your best choice in this race.

It’s a movement!
It is a movement
Yeah, like with all the Rell photos, ya think Steve could have photoshopped another outfit on her at least.
I hope Jodi is getting royalties.
“how to try to ride a coattail” – oh, wait, Jodi is not running this time. This strategy seems a little stale, have we seen it?- oh, right – last election
Republicans should have talked McQuaid into running somehow. He certainly has more of concern for South Norwalk than Morris has ever had.
RICK MCQUAID ROCKS! He should be our next mayor!
lets see how our present mayor handles the shooting this morning,it didn’t happen in that hell hole they call South Norwalk. If Morris needs a heads up the other vicious crime happened at the doors of the police station like anyone cares about any part of Norwalk that doesn’t involve a bulldozer.
morris is a grade a Ass
Yes he is an ass ,he would be a great mayor.McQuaid would be better.
The plan is, after Moccia maybe goes after a 3rd term, Hempstead is going to run and make McQuaid his city clerk. That is, if MRS. Hempstead can be persuaded to allow her husband to give up his 6-figure Stew Leonard’s job.
Then after Hempstead wins, McQuaid is going to run. Or vice versa, it really doesn’t matter. The two of them – Hempstead and McQuaid – are like Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Or Chang and Eng, the Siamese twins. You never see one of them without the other one. At least they do some good for the city – unlike some Democrats I can think of. Knopp, Wall, Wells, somehow those names just keep popping up in my head…..
Your so right #9 Mayor Moccia has done a great job no one could of done a better job,he has my vote next year at this time.
My bet is on McQuaid! He would do one hell of a job in representing the entire city. He is not one who pulls the ol party politics. He looks out for everyone and he stands up for what is right and fights against the wrongs. The voters would do well to have McQuaid on the ballot next years.
McQuaid seems like a nice guy has he any experience cutting ribbons? Now who does he need to pass the muster with The Hour,Ed Musante,Fred Bondi,Fed Wilms,The Garden Club and Nick Kydes?
Its not just that McQuaid is a nice guy. Cutting ribbons is not his thing but protecting the interests of the Norwalk tax payers is. He dances to the beat of his own drums and not those of any party. If its wrong its wrong, if its right its right. If the people of Norwalk have concerns he listens and acts on them. Its not easy being Mayor but I’m willing to bet McQuaid would be one of the best we’ve seen in some time. Thats not to say that Hempstead wouldn’t be just as good but I would think he would not want to give up Stew Leonards salary after working as hard as he has to get to where he is within the company. He does a great job on the council and I hope he stays there for a good long time.
who are the dems gonna run next year ?
How is anyone going to run when no one knows how the city is run on a day to day basis. In order to run for change you have to know whats going on how can anyone be informative? The Hour is useless and The Advocate won’t push for information.Cablevision was denied access this last weekend to any news that would of affected the taxpayers and residents. The newws room said so,The Hour took the weekend off and The Advocate is now only running a day or two behind the news.
Whats McQaid have to break the cycle? I do wish him luck if he takes on Moccia, who cares about the dems they have no one who can break the news blackout.
Most of the councilors have no idea how the city works on a day to day basis.
isnt this a post about Morris the jackass. I mean i think doug and rick are fine to talk about in thier own posts, just not here. Morris loots the city and the state of a salary. He is an empty suit. Cut his job and help save the city 85 thousand plus!
But without Morris who would Corda and Moore rely on?
17# Can’t they rely on TD?
TD at least has a fan base among some teachers yet not at the school of horror.
What does Corda and TD have in common? They both are afraid of Moore’s trump of all cards. Morris isn’t because he holds the same radical idealism.
