Perone Delivers $17k Check To Harbor View For Flooding
Harbor View, a shoreline neighborhood some would say overlooking the blue power plant, has long been subject to flooding, of the sea water variety. And with Malcom Pirnie on board to work out the studies and engineering reports, State Rep Chris Perone secured $17k through the legislature to help pay for the studies. From the press release:
State Rep. Chris Perone (D-Norwalk) presented a $17,000 check today to the Harbor View Association during a presentation at the main clubhouse off Harbor View Avenue in Norwalk.
Rep. Perone stated, “I am pleased to present this check to the Harbor View Association. There are many areas in Norwalk that have been hit hard by flooding over the last several years and Harbor View is no exception. This grant will help the community take the first necessary steps towards mitigating flood damage in the future.”
The funding will allow Harbor View to do an engineering study of the area to help them better manage their on-going flood control problems in the future.
“As we have seen in other parts of the state and even here in Norwalk, economic and population growth without real attention paid to infrastructure will lead to larger and more complex problems down the road,” Rep. Perone said.
Harbor View is a community of 105 homes in South Norwalk and was incorporated in 1905
Rep. Christopher Perone is serving his second term representing the 137th Assembly District of Norwalk. He is Vice Chair of the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, and is a member of the Education and Transportation Committees.
Just about everything south of Meadow street floods, whether high tides, big rains or mysterious vagaries of water. Homes along Woodward, homes in harbor shores and the roads into Village Creek all flood with regularity. It’s good to see some movement in the flood prevention process.
