East Norwalk Train Station Has New Bike Rack
Another bike rack has been installed at a train station, this time at the Westbound East Norwalk platform parking lot. As with most simple things involving public/governmental property it took the efforts of a dedicated biker, Steve Rappaport, the Norwalk Parking Authority, the CT DOT, DPW, Mayor Moccia, State Senator Bob Duff and State Rep Chris Perone. I hear a seal from the Maritime Aquarium may have been involved, but it may only be a rumor.
Naturally there was a press conference for the unveiling. Guess who is who in the photo below.
There was even a press release, which offers us this quote from Bob Duff: “This project is another testament to what we in the city of Norwalk can accomplish when we set out minds to it and work together. Not only does this encourage individual personal fitness, it’s a way to start reducing congestion on our reaodways and alleviate parking problems at our train stations.”
But wait there’s more, May is National Bike Month which means that its time to dust off the cobwebs, pump up the tires and wheel that bike out of the garage and onto the streets. It will make you forget about those $4 plus gallons of gas. It might also make you start looking at Norwalk from a whole new angle, literally.
I didn’t have a chance to get pictures of the bike racks at the SoNo train station, but I was told that they are there. The Rowayton train station may be next.
