Norwalk: A Failure To Respond

Over here at turfgrrl world headquarters, things are beginning to look more and more like a newsroom. Tips are flooding in on all sorts of interesting and intriguing stories. The thing is, as a fake fake-journalist, with a day job, it’s increasingly difficult to hunt down details and conduct investigations on where things fall on the truth meter.

Some of the things that cross the action news desk are pretty scintillating. A certain public school employee whiling the afternoon at mermaids, for example.  Sort of Norwalk’s version of the “Elliot Spitzer” story.

Then there’s the series of conspiracy theories or cover-ups, dastardly deals and strange events. For everything that happens in Norwalk, there’s someone out there saying that all is not what it seems. Most of the time, things are exactly what they are because most of the time people are just trying to do the best job they can with the information at hand. It’s no easy task to weed out good info from bad info.

Sometimes you have to keep on asking questions, because the answers you get aren’t responses to the question you asked. A yes or no answer makes it seem simple. Except when you don’t want a yes or no answer. Sometimes there’s lots of hidden pressure attached to a question. Like getting a court summons.

When questions are attached to matters of public record, the truth will eventually come out. Which is why, the common saying remains, “it’s the cover up that will get you.” That series of questions usually starts with who knew what when. It’s always unfortunate that someone who should know better fails to realize that time lines will set whatever actions, honorable or not, in a different context, once they’ve been assembled.

Of course the luxury of hindsight, or armchair quarterbacking, is the ability to see things once they’ve all happened. Things always look different in real time. But armchair quarterbacking is what journalism is about. The 5 Ws, answered each day.

Which brings us to this court case: 07-5003580-S.

Like the new X-Files movie soon to come out, The truth is out there. There are many investigations out there too. And the story will be told.

How can you tease us like this, Turfgirl? We are dying to know about 07-5003580-S. Does this refer to the alien visits in New Mexico, or is it a secret scandal about Obama and Ronald Reagan’s secret relationship???

Its missing a few items but – it is a docket number to a court case http://www.jud2.ct.gov/crdockets/DocketNoEntry.aspx?source=Pend

Go Turf Go, I was going to go down to the Red Shingle and practice my spanish. But if Mermaids it is then Mermaids it is. Who am I looking for again?

Interesting. Matt Morelli is listed as a defendant. How about some explanation in plain English?

  8. Anonymous says:

It looks like a civil suit against the City for damages because of a MV accident. Off Morelli is also a defendant and the case is pending at Stamford. Is there more to the story.?
The school employee/mermaid’s regular customer sounds like more of a story. Is he there when he should be working ? If not, why do we care ?

There was FBI,ATF state police major crime squad, state forensic
lab people as well as cops from all over the country to look into the
    death.

The lady keeping her name out of this was expecting police to knock on the door of her South Norwalk home Friday, next door to the church parking lot where Officer Matthew Morelli was found shot to death.

CNN had been in the area and now confirming others were never asked also.

The illegals seem to have disappeared for the moment when agencies brought in translators to comb the streets they are now quiet.

The other things that make no sense will still surfice yes its not CSI but one would think they would talk to the lady that sees the parking lot every time she looks out her window.

Facts we all should bear in mind we still have the same city and the same South Norwalk but like the last tragic death at Roodner Court the only thing that has changed is the weather.

  12. turfgrrl says:

I don’t have anything more to add on this subject right now. There’s much info being thrown my way, and verifying stuff takes time. Plus there’s ongoing investigations to consider.

Your friend from the “Willie T” has info.

  14. Anonymous says:

Defendent, in this case, is the City of Norwalk, Why would the City ask for a protective order ? I’m guessing it has something to do with the plaintiff stretching out the discovery process too much and the City felt it was harassment. There were at least four motions to extend discovery. I can’t believe they didn’t look into everything in the court records that had the officer’s name on it. Once they were sure it was suicide, of course, they probably stopped digging. That may explain why a lot of neighborhood people were not interviewed.

We certainly have a lot of unhappy people just waiting to tell their story.

Personally I think any stories on the mayor would be welcomed.

#16, you are certainly correct, but Turfie has already nipped that one in the bud before. If only someone had a police report in hand… but then, it’s probably disappeared by now, don’t you think?

Can’t and don’t want to blame or say its a police problem god knows I support them and have way before this last incident came up but.

Is there anyone out here that can help our two officers I just saw on washington street directing traffic backing up a truck that almost took out the washington st bridge? 2 cops 2 cars

The truck route that our elected officials deemed to be the best for Rowyaton simply sucks for downtwon sono.Poor markings have always been the trouble.

I have been asking the DPW what they can do for a couple more signs for the area along water woodward and MLK but to no avail we end up using two sometimes three highly trained police officers with EMT and response training to stand in the roads for up to an hour backing trucks up.I want to say we average 1 a week if not more even before the ban.

Who cares? No one but if your reading this and ever need a cruiser in a hurry well I hope you have luck if its a heart attack ad not busy directing traffic or playing taxi at the homeless shelter.

Oh did I mention while they were clearing the truck another accident on washinhton st just happened thats a little more time maybe personal injury looks like the Keystones have made a debut on Washington st.

Thanks Bob and Dick for such a lovely truck route I seriously hope if anyone is waiting for our men in blue for an emeregency its you two and you wait a helluva long time.

We need signs anyone good with a magic marker? The sign machine they showed us at the DPW does nice work last open house anyone know how to use it?

But then again I may be way off base here, does connecting the city come with signs? Or will that be extra?

  19. MrBozak says:

The car seen speeding away was a police crusier. A wonder if that same cruiser did a loop and returned to the seen. How many police cars were in the area or on patrol in total that night? Who arrived at the seen first, then who next?
Wonder why witnesses arent coming forward? Fear maybe.

  20. Dan Brown says:

I think you figured it all out. Morelli and the city was being sued because of a car accident and it could have cost the city several hundred dollars. The attorney suing the city knew Morelli had secrets about the illegal aliens in South Norwalk. One of them worked with Oliver North during the Iran-Contra affair. The CIA became aware of this and worked with former agents of the now defunct KGB who were involved in supplying some of the weapons for the Contras. The former Contra, who is now a day laborer in the area used on of the Russian weapons to prevent Morelli from revealing the secrets. Since this information could have world wide consequences, President Bush, Jodi Rell, and Dick Moccia banded together since they were all Republicans. The President sent the FBI and Jodi Rell sent the State Police to cover up the crime. The CIA is probably monitoring this site and will now be after me. Sounds like a great movie.

No doubt Tad Diesel is working on a way to help the film industry shoot the true story here…

  22. Anonymous says:

MrBozak, what motivates you to write your postings about the Morelli case?

  23. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

Dan Brown – exactly what I was thinking. As one who is in the business and has been for years, this whole issue is filled with unbelievalble speculation, drama and imagination. It would really be funny if it wasn’t so sad. Some of you should be absolutely ashamed to spew such ignorance, hatred, racism and general lack of caring. Each and every one of your questions can be logically and accurately answered but something tells me you are not interested in that, only in perpetuating idiotic theories which feed into your hatred for the police and the general paranoia from which you obviously suffer. People do hurt and kill themselves – real world. Some times the motivations are not clear and the methods seem to be beyond reason and impossible yet there are some incredible stories out there which prove them. When you don’t know all the facts about a situation it is always best to avoid making comments until you have them. If you don’t have them, just be quiet. Don’t open you mouth and prove your ignorance, especially in such emotional and confusing issues.

  24. Jane Doe says:

Bravo #24. And for the love of Mike, can’t people let Officer Morelli rest in the peace he has hopefully found and let his family try to make their own peace without all this damned verbal rubber-necking.

  25. Looks like a cover up says:

It looks like another Mayoral coverup. Who was the mayor when the accident occured ?

  26. MrBozak says:

My motivation is the dirty cops who kicked in my door and robbed my house, slandered my name. Maybe if I didnt go to school with these guys and know about there love for coke, hookers, steriods, this would be easier to handle. Except I know that they control the p-dope and coke sales in the area. The same drugs that killed my brother, my best friend, and more than a dozen norwalk natives.
Maybe I want to see them locked up in the same prison as me with all the other people who they have hurt.
Maybe I seek justice, instead of published lies.
Maybe just maybe, if I died under these strange circumstances, I would hope that somebody would put some real effort into solving my death. But I guess that some people believe that solving the real crimes in this city isnt all that important.
I know that Keith Sumpter family and friends feel this way.

  27. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

Mr. Bozak – If you have a legitimate complaint and some real proof, it would seem now is the appropriate time to approach the Connecticut State Police and/or the FBI and present them with what you have. Before you reply that there is nobody you can trust, you should know that this is a classic response from people who are just rationalizing their own lies and b.s. Present the evidence I presume you have and I assure you it will be followed up. Yes, because you are currently under charges yourself, there will be some suspicion regarding your motives but all this big talk and unsubstantiated libel appears to be simple nonsense without hard and fast proof which you claim to have. You come across as a run of the mill arrestee with a bone to pick with the police because you got caught. You may wish to plead your case in court and not on the blog.

  28. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

Oh, by the way Mr. Bozak, I know the people who were involved on the night that Mr. Sumpter committed a robbery, then fired on police who were chasing him, a chase which culminated in his witnessed suicide. They are truly among Norwalk’s Finest and are above reproach and certainly above the uninformed and hateful allegations you are making. Perhaps a libel/slander lawsuit would be in order. It may make you think about things before you write them.

  29. MrBozak says:

It was the state police who arrest and robbed me, and turned my file over to the FBI, so yeah I think that is really going to work.
As far as ” who killed Keith?”, I know some of the witnesses involved, whos statements went into the garbage. Who accually witnessed Keith kill himself besides police?

  30. Townie says:

John Cashin – You certainly make a lot of sense to me…..not that I was ever buying the BS the Bozak was selling. However, it is scary to think that someone could or would believe some of his twisted tales. Good bless America and thank you John Cashin!

  31. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

I reiterate, bring forth the proof of what you “know” and the witnesses too. How do you know where any paperwork (reports, statements, warrants, etc.) went or who gave what to whom. You are so obviously just trying to incite people to suspicion and anger. If the police, state or local, only found a small amount of drugs in you home, why are they trying to cover up everything from you? Who are you? Why are they so hell bent on taking you off the street that they would risk everything by planting evidence? If they really wanted to plant evidence to set you up and put you away, why would they only plant a “small amount”? Why not make it worth the risk and put you away for life? Let me guess, you know so much about the state police, Norwalk Police and the FBI that they are all afraid you will spill the beans and bring down the entire criminal justice system. By the way, the FBI does not have local jurisdiction in such cases and are kinda busy with stuff a little more important than you and your “small amount” of grass. How about it? Let’s have some answers. Maybe you should talk to your attorney first though. Hey, do you trust your attorney (or is he a covert CIA man?), maybe he can take your proof and lead the fight against the widespread corruption you claim to know so much about. What do you think?

  32. Anonymous says:

Hello John this isn’t like you or your style I hope Turfgrrl calls you and makes sure its you writing maybe Noelle could confirm .

Trust all is well on the Island keeping it safe for the family to return this summer , we miss you here, certainly with all that has transpired homesick is not an option right now. You knew we almost were looking for a new chief Harry was applying but the city had no luck in getting rid of him.

See you soon the Island does hold great memories.

Seems as if MrBozak is none other than cop hater from other threads. I wish he/she would stop trying to put gasoline on an already ignited fire just because he/she has dealings with law enforcement. After a while it get repetitious
and boring. No matter how many conspiracy theories you present, most inteligent people will look at your posting and laugh. You are speculating and in reality you seem to hold a grudge against anyone in authority. tsk tsk, it no way to live.

  34. MrBozak says:

Cop Hater, Cop Lover. Decided to use a name that I am legally tied too. And if it really is Mr. Cashin, then I respect him for doing so. The things that I say shouldnt go under a anonymous posting. Ive already testify to witnessing the police use excessive force, it got me locked up.
    I guess that is hearsay?
And lets clear up another thing, the police never planted anything on me. They stole money from me! I think it was what you guys call a Christmas bonus.
As for an attorney, dont have one, do you know one who would touch this?

  35. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

Mr. Bozak – thank you for proving my point, there is always a slippery side to such stories as yours. The key is not to get pinned down. First off, you seem to have dropped all interest in the Sumpter Suicide and the witnesses and how you know anything about statements being discarded, etc. Very enlightening.
When did you “testify” about police brutality and what were you subsequently locked up for? Please provide dates, times, arresting officers, officers who assaulted you (or some other party in your presence). Also please give details on the alleged brutality incident.
Next, when, where, how, why, who and what with regard to this theft from your home. Give me the details and I will be glad to see what I can find out. By the by, “us guys” do not call taking something that doesn’t belong to you “a Christmas (or any other kind of) bonus”—it is called theft. And the vast majority of officers that I know well and have worked with over the years in Norwalk are far above that type of behavior and would never even consider such behavior. Yes, there are some who have brought the department down, but many have been dealt with. The few that are still there, their day is coming. However, you are merely attempting to retaliate because you were caught, pure and simple. Hey, what is your arrest record like? Let me guess, this is the first time you were ever arrested right. Oh, it isn’t? Let me guess again, the cops have harrassed you constantly since you were a teen. Am I close?
You saw a difficult situation for the police department and jumped on board to keep it going. Maybe you were thinking “hmmmm, if I can get the police deparment’s reputation to look like crap, they will seem less credible in court and I can get even and maybe even get off!” How about that? Sound familiar?
I guess you never counted on someone taking you to task for your nonsense but I guess I’m a little bored today. In between my chores I have been checking this site and your allegations are so transparent (and really, really tired)that I thought it would be good diversion to respond. Believe me, I am not under any delusion whatsoever that you will ever admit the truth and just go away. Perhaps you are so simple that you wouldn’t recognize the truth. And for someone who isn’t involved with drugs, you sure seem to be surrounded by them (i.e. your brother and best friend)and had “marijuana” in your home. Sounds like a plea of innocent would be as delusional as your story about a police car speeding away from Officer Morelli’s suicide scene. I get the less than subtle inference, as most seem to, but once again your pathological hatred rises to the surface and only displays your alterior motives. Guess what, there bad people in the world and from I have seen you can count yourself among them for your selfish, cruel and ignorant hate mongering. The next time you or any of your followers gets in a jam or is threatened don’t call the police, call a dope dealer.
By the way, with regard to an attorney who will help you blow the lid off the City of Norwalk a.k.a. “NorwalkGate” just hit the yellow pages, there are any number of them who will gladly take your money if you have proof or something intelligent to provide —ooops, guess that settles that.

  36. MrBozak says:

My arrest record consists of 2 misdmeanor poss, and 1 felony poss of marijuana. Last one was 2002, and I have plead guilty to all of them. Whoa, big record for a 33yr old. What does my record show, that I like to smoke. Doesnt make it hard for a judge to sign a search warrant without any real evidence does it.
As far never being involed in drugs, when did I say that John? Putting words in my mouth like a typical cop. You claim to be retired, yet you say that you are in the Business? Your blogs sound like good cop/bad cop all rolled up into one.
So should I trust that you would help, or sick the dogs on me?
How many drug tests did you take as an officer?
And back to Keith, yes I do have names of witnesses, why would you like to know? Friends with the officers involved you say?
What stakes do you have in this case John, be honest!

  37. MrBozak says:

And did you say ooops? What is this, the middle school cafeteria?

  38. Anonymous says:

MrBozak, we have had enough. Thanks for your postings, but until you are prepared to provide specifics and the names of witnesses, this is a conversation that is going nowhere. Your obvious dislike (hatred?) for the Norwalk Police Department makes most of what you say suspect.

I’m in no way involved in this, but I care about what happens in Norwalk. If you have specific information (not theories or wild speculation), if you have those witnesses and you are prepared to name them, do something more than write about it here.

In the absence of the above actions, let’s call this conversation to a close.

  39. Anonymous says:

Maybe MrBozak could take a look at the fact that police officers are human an no human is perfect, If they were he’d have to find someone else to dump his hate on. I hope you never have to call them in an emergency, what then? Are you going to bad mouth and badger and then expect them to be cordial and couteous? Well, just so you know, the answer is yes because that is their joband they take it very seriously even though you seem to think otherwise.

  40. MrBozak says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmdqiUE7Gfw
Former Mayor Bill Collins, knows what Im talking about. Is he credibility valid? Where did his 96 testimony go, nowhere.
As far as names of witnesses, you post anonymous. Why should I or would I post their names and endanger them?
And anonymous says “we have had enough”, who is this we? Do you speak for a larger group or all the people on this blog, were you elected or appointed?
This video link that I have posted will lead you to several other interesting videos like “are CT judges being bribed in cocaine?”.
Courtroom testimonies in these videos supports the image that I have portayed of Norwalks finest, state police and the system in general.
So once again any realistic suggestions in how this can be handled, other than my hateful blogs?
Please, I search for reasoning and fighting amongst ourselves is exactly what will get nothing done. United we stand divided we fall. So any lawyers out there interested in hearing what I say, any police?
    Anybody?

  41. Anonymous says:

Are you saying that your real name is MrBozak?

  42. MrBozak says:

Maybe we should spend more time looking at MrBozak, and stay off the Morelli case? State police claim to have spent over a month investigating me, will Matts death get the same treatment and funding?
And I dont call the police nor have I ever needed their assistance, a call to the police should be for reserved for real emergencies. Civil adults should be able to handle most situations without needing mediation. Sorry that most people dont feel the same, wasting police time on domestic disputes and fenderbenders. This is why the real cases go unsolved!
And I dont mistake corruption for imperfection, there is a huge difference, its called intent.

  43. Anonymous says:

while Mr Bozak is keeping the attention away from the other issues around budget time why would anyone suggest he get his own blog its way to conveniant to let the red herrings fly while some issues slip by as they usally do this time of year.

What about the overtime budget for the police?

What about the environmental obligations the city has to its shellfish beds or to the public ?

Where are we with all the pre election promises if the mayor wins?

Whats the time line of the farmers market? Where will it this year and is their anyone left who will come back to Norwalk after how they were treated last year. Has our surrounding towns taken advantage of a bad situation here and made good for their own communities?

60 degrees wes will make us think 24 degrees last night makes us forget.

  44. Anonymous says:

Yes, maybe we should be looking more at MrBozak, the man who wants “Anonymous” to reveal his/her identity, but who won’t reveal his own.

Okay, I cannot speak for others, but I’m not finding much credibility here. Prove me mistaken.

  45. MrBozak says:

MrBozak is my stated alias in a case pending, everyone who knows calls me Bo, Bozak, MrBozak.
Would you like my real name, discription, address, myspace profile? I am a very easy person to find!

  46. Anonymous says:

What many of us want is for you to stop trashing the police without justfiable evidence of your accusations,

  47. Anonymous says:

I for one love the back and forth between MrBozak and John Cashin (if it is truly him and I don’t think that it is)…MrBozac has the same right to be on this board as any of us…Do I question his credibility…yes I do as he has not provide any name just generic statements….Do I question anything I read…yes I do….

  48. MrBozak says:

Thank you. Questions lead to answers. Maybe not the ones we want.

  49. John Cashin - NPD Captain (retired) says:

Mr. Bozak – Thank you for the banter back and forth and providing the vague and diversionary responses, they only prove my point. I don’t really care whether Mr. Bozak stays on the blog or not I do care if people are going to take anything he says seriously, he is trashing a noble profession for the bad acts of a very small number of officers. I would like to add that with all of his comments it is important to read between the lines as it is all about spin and twist and avoid the real questions. For example, please note that he refuses to give specifics because he will be endangering the “witnesses” etc. He can’t trust anyone with the info he has, please.
And for the record I have absolutely no involvement or “stake” in any Norwalk case anymore as I am retired from there (but still in the business). Lastly I thank everyone for indulging me but will now sign off the blog. Thank you and good night and by the way, yes, it really is me.
