Evening to you, Turf! Any chance you can do a separate local education blog? Perhaps that may solve the problem you are and may continue to experience with school issues.
Lynne Moore needs to know she is being watched. The Teachers need to know they can speak freely of the situation they find themselves in. What we all need is a committee of BOE & Parents that a teacher can go to when Lynne Moore bullys them. I would think that Lynne Moore would think twice before picking on them. If Lynne Moore would have an honest beef with that teacher is something this committee could determine. It just makes good horse sense(no pun intended) that if the teachers are evalutaed by administrators, such as Moore, then WHO evaluates the Administrator?
#626 of previous thread, Then either we conduct such yearly “anonymous” surrveys or we form a committee that guarentees no reprisals from bully administrators. We certainly have to come to a consensus on how to proceed. We can’t expect our teachers to continue to teach our children under such stessful conditions, can we?
Is there such a position #7. I was under the impression Corda dismissed the problems we are now discussing because he is nothing more than an ostrich that has his head imbeded in the 18th hole.
#6 Such survey would have to follow the #567 rule. We do not have the right to interfere with the educational process. This is extremely important to follow.
I agree #9, but to tell Lynne Moore to come down to City Hall to answer questions after school hours about charges or accusations of her bullying teachers by BOE members & Parents should not be interfereing with school teaching time.
Well then, we need to round up those that can talk initially. The teachers are not yet comfortable to say anything yet without assurances that they will not recieve reprisals. So the ones who can start the ball rolling are the parents. I would say that one or several better yet, get together, speak to Bruce Mellion of the Norwalk Federation of Teachers Union or to BOE members first. They should definitely attend a BOE Meeting and state their worries about what they have read here on these threads. It will be interesting to see the BOE discuss this matter, especially now that they have New members who have run on a platform of open discussion. This could be the best way to start the dialog of addressing all this nonsence and more importantly, a begining to the end of it.
If Mr. Giuliano or one, or several, on that list of 20 would come to a BOE meeting and state the problem they had or are having, that would open the flood gates to this problem Corda, Moore & Company have been trying to supress. Lets get it on the table.
Dear Turfgrrl, as you do not yet have a thread for people to correct misinformation posted during campaign season, I’d appreciate it if you’d allow me to post my correction here. I want it known that I never conducted a telephone poll. In fact, I was the only one of the four District D candidates who did not do robo-calls. I am not criticizing the other candidates; considering Doug Hempstead and Kelly Straniti won, their decision to make robo-calls appears quite politically savvy. I happen to hate receiving robo-calls, so it was important to me that any calls made on my behalf come directly from me or from one of my volunteers. I would expect a group that prides itself on ferreting out the truth to at least listen for the “approved by…” message at the end of a call before critiquing me repeatedly for it. As for the other misinformation, it was far too amusing to bother correcting! Kind regards, Anna Duleep
Please link to the thread of misinformation you have mentioned. We welcome anyone to post corrections to information. I am distressed that your post is about a different thread. Would you please link to the correct thread and posts? I would link to it myself, yet I do not know what thread you are posting about and I have read all 626 posts in the previous thread. None of them refer to robo-calls. Will someone please correct her post?
The problem with a new thread is people won’t read the beginning of the thread. Turfgrrl, is it possible to have page numbers at the bottom or top of the page and say 100 posts for each page?
Ms. Duleep, We appreciate your concern for correct information, however this thread is a discussion about bullying behavior in our schools. We are mostly parents and teachers. This is not a political thread.
Speaking of getting hijacked, lets get back to the business of taking our schools back from the administrative highjackers shall we. I thought about this all morning and I think the best way for all this to be brought out into the open & discussed would be through a parent who has had a problem with the administration at West Rocks, or any other school for that matter, to speak at a BOE meeting and put it on the table. Once it is up for discussion, all of the points made on these threads can be brought into the fold. This seems to me to be the best way to acknowledge the elephant in the room that has avoided and supressed for so long.
That would work….a parent(s) reading about the problems at West Rocks. All we need to do is “open the door” on this discussion and it’ll be on the floor at the BoE meeting and have to be addressed.
#30 How about a tip of the hat or wag of the finger for teachers and parents to quietly communicate support? A way of spreading awareness of the site without saying anything. Corny but might be effective.
#38 The point of bringing it up at a BOE meeting is so we can “turn the carpet over” and see what’s been swept up it for so long. Looks to me like we have Lynne Moore threatening our teachers to the point where they are boardering on depression and fear for loss of their jobs. We have a superintendant, Corda, who refuses to acknowledge the problem unless we can tie a golf ball around Ms. Moores neck, we have had a BOE that has not discussed this growing “cancer” in our schools at any meeting. Why is that? Maybe because Corda has been leading the old BOE by the nose and has been the one to dictate what is discussed and what is NOT to be discussed. We have much hope that with the New BOE members, they will discuss these problems. Again, our teachers are too frightened to bring this up at a BOE meeting. Infact, they rarely are even seen at BOE meetingss. Ask yourself why that is. Teachers have brought it up to their union, only to have their name exposed and then have to deal with the internal fallout. BUT a public questioning and awareness by the PARENTS cannot be supressed by the Corda’s & Moore’s of the BOE. Let’s get it out into the open at a public meeting. No more backroom discussions and threats leading to back stabbing our teachers.
Another thought I had….Don’t you find it amazing that Dr. Corda has stayed clear of visiting the schools, yet recently he started to visit them. Ask yourself why? My guess is that he has seen the Cambridge report and if I were a betting man, I would guess it is critical of HIS lack of attendance in visiting Norwalk’s schools. Maybe if we had hidden Golf goodies within the schools like in a scavenger hunt, years ago, he’d of made it a point to go to the schools.
I doubt a quite “wag of the finger” would accomplish anything. We need a “tounge lashing from the mouth” to get something done. Afterall, Corda and the administrators have already been wagging their finger at us for quite some time now…their “middle” finger.
Dr. Corda does know the findings of the Cambridge report, as do Dr. Lang and Mr. Opdahl. I am sure that we will see all of them in the buildings now because the report will slam them for being derelict in meeting their responsibility to know what is happening in the schools.
Question: Why does it take a report to get them into the schools? They already knew the criticism from many of us.
Obvious answer to the question: They don’t respect our opinions, and they think they already have the answers, based upon what they have learned from the conferences they have attended, the books they have read and the experiences they have had in dissimilar school districts.
These people may begin to visit schools, but I find it impossible to believe that their attitudes will change.
Thank you #45. So that explains Corda’s new found enthusiasum for visiting the schools. Seems Corda & Company will always do the minimum required of them. Which is why I feel we need to bring the issues front & center at the BOE meetings with big mouths, since Corda won’t bring up any issues if he doesn’t have to. Out of sight, out of mind is the mentality of our Central Office Administration. People, we need to speak up from here on in if we want any solutions to these grave problems we have now.
We need a parent(s) that can help to organize this group. It doesn’t make a difference if it’s one or one hundred. What we need is for someone to start a dialog with the BOE so these problems can be addressed.

LOL. Do we get our own blog?
The Superintendant of Secondary Education should be evaluating the middle school and high school principles, should he not?
For anybody who is new to this website.
This thread was created, because the last thread is crashing people’s computers. It’s 169 pages in length.
Click here to read if you have a couple of spare hours.

Who is the Superintendent of Secondary Education?

#11 We need more cowboys.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
The day cometh.

#22 I suspect she didn’t read the link on post #5 before posting. I don’t know what she is talking about either.
I meant #21 (not #22).
WHAT? You are posting on the wrong thread.
The problem with a new thread is people won’t read the beginning of the thread. Turfgrrl, is it possible to have page numbers at the bottom or top of the page and say 100 posts for each page?
We’ve been hijacked.
jk

cowboy, our political leaders don’t read threads before posting. Maybe we should read them the posts. I like DT’s idea.
The post is a slap in the face. She isn’t talking about this thread, but it was wrong to post that here.
That would work….a parent(s) reading about the problems at West Rocks. All we need to do is “open the door” on this discussion and it’ll be on the floor at the BoE meeting and have to be addressed.
She’ll do like the rest of our political leaders. After they read the posts they will hide.
20, I want it known that I do not trust any of our political leaders.
Now wait just a minute here.
I DO read all the posts, on every thread, faithfully.
When appropriate, I post under my own name.
My address and phone number are published, and it’s my cell phone number that’s posted with my Common Council contact information.
I would hardly call that “hiding”! If you can’t contact me, you just aren’t trying.
#35 What was it they said during the Cold War — trust but verify.

38, that may go against rule #567. After a dozen or two parents and teachers tip their hat to you it could make people paranoid.
MGeake you had me laughing. Enough wags of the fingers flashbacks to the cold war of soviet spies may come. You are great.

It was mentioned… putt putt courses inside the classrooms.
LOL…Yeah..putt putt for the putz putz!

We need a parent(s) that can help to organize this group. It doesn’t make a difference if it’s one or one hundred. What we need is for someone to start a dialog with the BOE so these problems can be addressed.
BOE prefers monologue.
What’s this ‘ere on the plyte? ‘Knock and ring’! Blowed if they won’t be harsking yer ‘walk hinside’, next!!
