All necessary infrastructure upgrades in the West Avenue and 95/7 area should be paid for by the Developers. Having set the standard, Phelps made it possible for his Merritt 7 complex to be a good and responsible citizen of Norwalk by road widening, bus service and an additional train stop. That is how it should be done - by the developer and on his nickle, not ours.

The Redevelopment Agency should be making this part of the contracts with these developers and not put it on the taxpayers. There is no free ride - or there should be none in Norwalk.

New development is great when its smart thought about development. If yo have a AC unit in your house that does not cool do you add more rooms to the house on that AC unit. NO you fix or replace the AC first, then it could handle the added space. Norwalk has an infrastructure that can't handle what we have now so before we do all this building we have to fix it. Condos are not the right choice only because its too much for Norwalk, Norwalk is already too crowded. # 2 is right, are zoning laws allow for almost anything without any thought for street scape of neighborhoods and open space which Norwalk is loosing.Planning and zoning need a complete overhaul before it's to late. Just think 1000 condo units = 2000 more cars on the pot hole streets of Norwalk then add to that the retail and commercial space proposed and what do you have more congestion on your street and mine. All I am trying to say is do things smart. Put stores downtown Norwalk like the strip in Westport where you park your car and walk up and down the street for a mile with stores and resurants and you dont have to drive anywhere. It's just to much quality of life is going away to over development plain and simple.

According to #2 We will have all new council members this November. Since all the present council members from all parties voted for it.
Now solving that problem you would then need to replace the Zoning Commission (appointed)and that would take about four years.
Of course no new development = even higher taxes, just look at Bridgeport's tax rates. A 300,000 house you pay about $7000 in taxes.
Its all about balance.

The only place things must be good is in Norwalk. I have not seen any pigs fly yet, I will keep looking. We must vote in November to stop this over development by voting out the current common council that approves it and we have to change the zoning laws that allow it.

Lets see, Global Crossing, Enron, WorldCom, all sure thing billion dollar corporations. We are going to get right up there with the big guys by the "paid parking" method of financing multimillion dollar developments.

Let me know the next time you see a pig fly by. Then I might believe it can happen,
